Some medical websites say that steam inhalation may provide temporary relief from symptoms of the common cold and flu. But there is no scientific evidence to suggest that inhaling steam can kill the novel coronavirus.
When a similar message went viral,the Press Information Bureau tweeted a fact check debunking the claim and called it ‘fake’. As there is no evidence to suggest that inhaling steam can kill the novel coronavirus, this post is fake.
A widely shared message claims that inhaling the steam rising out of hot water kills the novel coronavirus. When we looked this up, we found that neither the World Health Organization nor the Indian Government has suggested any such measure.

There is no proof that inhaling steam from hot water can kill the corona-virus. very hot water (water with a temperature of 70 degrees centigrade or above) and chemicals/sanitizers can kill viruses on surfaces, but they are not safe to be used oh the human body. In COVID positive patients, the virus resides inside the infected person’s cells, and inhaling steam will not help to alter the effect of it
Bringing hot water into close contact with your face and airways can cause burns and serious damage, so please do not try inhaling steam.
